Our Team

D. Matt Williams, Esquire.

Matt was born and raised in Columbia, SC, where he proudly grew up attending Richland One public schools. Also a proud Gamecock, he attended the University of South Carolina for both law school and his undergraduate degree. Matt began his practice of law with a highly respected insurance defense firm in Beaufort, SC, where he defended clients on behalf of insurance companies for several years. Following the birth of their first child, Matt and his wife, Margaret, moved back home. Once he opened his own practice, it was an easy decision for Matt to begin representing plaintiffs and claimants, instead of the insurance companies. He also enjoys getting to know his clients, often fairly well, through his estate planning and probate practice.

With years of experience representing aggrieved clients in many different settings, Matt understands that no matter how high or low the stakes seem from the outside, to the client, it is often the most important thing in that moment. He strives to represent each of his clients with strength, humility, and grace. Matt focuses his representation in the areas of Personal Injury, Car Accidents, Estate Planning, Probate Administration, Timber Theft and Wrongful Harvesting, and Trust Administration. Matt also provides consultations to small businesses regarding cannabis and hemp laws following the 2018 Farm Bill and subsequent state law changes.
